U.S. Dealers & Brokers

  • Our List of “Canadian Friendly” U.S. Dealers and Brokers,

At this time CarsWithoutBorders has not identified nor supported any U.S. dealers in particular.  Many would like to advertise on this site and sell new cars to Canadians, but they have been threatened by their head offices not to do so, under threat of losing their franchise, or other financial penalties.    Sounds like collusion to me.

If you have recently purchased a vehicle in the U.S. and would like to tell us your story send us an email.  We can pass on the dealers name, on or off a confidential basis.

I emailed/called several US Chevy dealers concerning a new Corvete, and all had the same “our dealer agreement requires a car to be titled in the states for 6 months…..” I honestly don’t get it. GM is staring possible bankruptcy right in the face, yet they refuse to sell a new Corvette, one of their most profitable/popular models to Canadians. I’m baffled. Yet another barrier that needs to come down.

For BMW s try EBay. Any members that have imported a BMW please email us with the details so we can pass them on to other Canadians. info@carswithoutborders.com

I need help to find a friendly Lexus Dealer. None of the one I contacted will allow me to leave the dealer with just a transit. They all claim they have to licence the car in the State for 120 days… I would like to talk to anyone that imported a new Lexus.

    Robert,

Corvette Palace only sells used Corvettes, I think George is looking to buy a new one.

    George,

There are ways to buy a new Corvette and import it here. Easiest is to have a friend/relative south of the border. If you don’t, there are other ways. I almost did it, but finally bought a used one because I didn’t want to eat the first year’s depreciation.

  8. Michael Buffy says:

Register the vehicle in a state that has no sales tax e.g. Montana. If you do not have a friend or relative in Montana, set up a corp to own the car for 6 months and 7500 miles. Incorporating costs as little as $400.00 in Montana. A NIL tax return would be filed with the IRS. You will need to get a IRS taxpayer number. About $200.00 in accounting fees should take care of all of this for you.

Lots of lawyers and accountants in Montana have websites.

I’m looking to purchase a new Mazda RX-8 in the US and am looking for a Canadian-friendly dealer in Oregon, which for simplicity does not have a sales tax. My business has a virtual office in the state for use as an address and I have several contacts there, but would prefer to just buy a new car and import directly into Canada. Any ideas.
