We talked to a the RIV this morning, concerning the status of the revised RIV listing as a result of the changes to the new bumper regulations.
The new listing should be out by the end of the week. Seems that the folks at Transport Canada really want to do a thorough venting. It appears that we can even expect to see new manufacturers added as well.
We have been told that all vehicles in the backlog, that were held up due to the bumper issue, are being released.
Thank-you RIV!
Note: for those of you that did not catch the press release, we are assuming that the media deemed it insignificant (Canwest asleep at the switch!?) you can read it by clicking here.

We want to thank Zack Spencer for the opportunity to be on his show that was broadcast across Canada this afternoon on the Corus Radio Network.
For those of you that missed it you can get it all right here. See below.
The show focused on our team’s accomplishments over the last 6 months, we discussed the new bumper laws and the impact on the Canadian Automobile Consumer, some of the key issues making a simple import process still a little unwieldy. The switchboard was swamped!
We wish we had a little more time to discuss where we go from here… but we will issue a posting next week.
In the mean time please sign the petition, encourage your friends, family and co-workers to sign. As well, if you feel we have helped you or you are looking to support our cause please don’t hesitate to click on our “donate” button. Please give what you can to help the cause!
Finally, The ammendments to section 215 of Schedule IV of the Motor Safety Regulation concerning Bumpers have been passed into law!
- This has the effect of aligning the test speeds of the Canadian bumper safety standard with those of Europe and the United States and provides manufacturers the option of meeting the European safety requirements or the safety and no damage provisions of the United States. As a result of this amendment, there is one consistent set of globally regulated test speeds for the design of bumpers,

Thanks to all that have participated and hounded the powers to be to move quickly on this issue.
We have been told today that Transport Canada is working on a new list that should be available within the next couple of days. It look like 30 cars are now admissible…

Ok Mario, now that the American Bumpers are ok, we wonder if/ what GM is going to do to prevent you from plating your car!
We have just heard a rumor that our infamous Transport Canada amendment to Harmonize our Automobile Bumper Regulations with the U.S. and Europe has been held up with Bernier’s former Girl friend, Julie!!
Word has it, overworked and under whelmed Mr. Cannon requested Bernier to work it!
We guess he did.
Come on Harper please jump on it and pass the regulation, everyone agrees it is the overall good of the Canadian Consumer. Are you still interested in pleasing them!
Before the papers were discovered…..
Stop Corrupt Government and pass the Proposed Bumper Regulations.
Julie Fights Back, maybe we need her working on the Bumper File!!
We just discovered why not many folks are too interested in raising heck with Transport Canada to expedite the bumper law amendments. (Regulation 115)
Rumor has it that many successful import dealers simply stock a set of bumpers for the big sellers. They install them, and then once the vehicle has passed inspection, they take them off and put the old ones back on!
Only one set of “Canadian” bumpers is used to process many cars!
Now why should we be surprised, then again the average Canadian wanting to import a car by him/her self gets shafted!
