

This morning’s article by Ann Sutherland “Buying Winter tires in the U.S. presents slippery questions” is nothing but unbiased fear mongering. It appears the Gazette is attempting to “scare” Canadians into staying home to get “gouged” at their local tire store!
We are hoping Canadian Consumers are smarter than that, but it would have been nice to see someone report the proper facts.

Shawn Apel - 514-216-9172 of CBC radio is looking to interview ordinary normal average day to day Canadians that have or are going to be buying their winter tires in the U.S. to save $$$$$$
Please give him a call if you are. We need honest, unbiased, respectable, and accurate media coverage to get the message out to all Canadians that they are being “gouged” on tires, cars and other car parts.. 
Seems to us that Publicly Funded Networks should ensure that an unbiased story gets to the people!
So the Price Gouging of Canadians Continues! We used to say that smart Canadians go south for the winter, but these days smart Canadians are turning south to find bargains on Winter Tires.
With the recent introduction of the “Quebec Snow tire law”, it appears the Tire Companies are all set to price gouge to their hearts content. We conservatively estimate that over 600,000 cars will require 2.4 Million winter tires. Please refer to Study.
This represents a price gouge just to Quebeckers in the range of 130 to 175 Million dollars!

Today the Associated Press reported that new vehicle prices in the U.S. are falling at the fastest rate ever recorded, squeezing profit margins… but also setting the stage for a sales rebound once the economy improves.
In Canada we have seen Volvo giving huge cash incentives .. up to $13,000 for an XC90. Wonder how their customers feel about how they were being gouged last year. .
..given the recent weakness in the Canadian $$ you would expect the gap to narrow, but is it really the case?
