We will let you folks be the judge. Take a look at the add appearing in the Gazette this Morning. Is this really a good deal for Canadians?
- The 2008 Civic DX manual Model FA1528EX ( the picture is of a Civic SI Sedan??) $198/ month + taxes, no down payment, Total cost of the lease is $11,880 + taxes over the 60 month lease, 19.2K KM per year.
- The 2008 Accord LX manual Model CP2538E (the picture is of an Accord EX-L ) $298 + taxes, no down payment , Total cost of the lease over 48 months is $14,304 + Taxes.
- On both models PDI is included in the leasing only. Publication, Taxes, Licencing, insurance (duh!), and administration (documentation) fees are extra.
- How much if we want to pay cash? Comments welcomed?
- Is this a really good deal for Canadians?
- Note : with all the small print on the side of the page, why don’t they just tell us what the buy-back will be at the end of the lease as of date of publication of course.
- The $9,000 cash rebate fee applies on the 2007 S2000 Model AP2147EN at a MRSP of $50,000 Plus PDI of $1,540, registration, insurance, licence, and taxes are extra. Cash incentives may not be combined with purchase or lease financing? Gst rebate of 1% too!
- If we go off to the “Tale” prices in the US range from $34,300 for the Base model up to $37,300 for the CR A/C 6 speed MT.
- Over to the RIV and the
S2000 appears to be admissible!
- So what do you think Canadians? Deal or No Deal!?
With all of the running around this week-end, in preparation for the consultations, I simply did not have a chance to do justice to the “Car of the Day”. But I thought about all my resourceful teamates out there. Maybe you would enjoy a little challenge. Especially those members of our “Awareness” team. If you don’t have time just post it onto one of the forms and let it roll.
Is this add that I read this morning a good deal for the Canadian Consumer? - comments appreciated!

This morning I looked at an interesting item I picked up at the Kingston Whig Web site. The ”Wheels” auto supplement feature by Malcom Gunn of Wheelbase Communications featuring the 2008 Subaru Tribeca. This is a great looking car and you can get all the details at:
http://www.thewhig.com/media/wheels/wheels.pdf
So I wondered off to my RIV Lists
Just recently on Nov. 26th Transport Canada declared several Subaru Models inadmissible but they seemed to have let the Tribeca off the hook, it is admissible. Please be advised that given the tendency for major “flip-flops”, that I would probably get it in writing first directly from TC before I ventured further, and have it notarized!
Going over to the
Compare Prices between Can and U.S.
This is what I found a 41.64% difference?? for the base model!
I went to the Subaru.ca web site and tied to build the model and re-check the price. This price in Canada appears to before taxes and prep. I checked at Subaru.com and again found the base price to be $29,995 U.S. I think it was before only a $600 charge for prep I am not sure. Wow !
Now, before running out and going south and skipping your breakfast…. Please please take my advice. I would strongly advise you to do your own research on this one, I suggest you get quotes from your Canadian dealer and quotes from the folks south of the border! (since the word is out about us Canadians - don’t tell the U.S. dealer you are Canadian - until you have to ) .
Then If I could get this in writing from the TC, I would jump on it right away, before somebody wakes up and it also winds up onthe inadmissible! Please don’t hold this against me if you get “Flip-Flopped” by the folks at Transport Canada.
Please note the RIV listing is as of our inquiry this Morning at 6:22 A.M. and of course we all know is subject to Change by Lawrence Cannon.
The intention of this posting is just to add a little more punch to the daily auto report issued by Canwest News Service. Columnists Care Dear and David Booth write excellent reviews almost every day on a different car. Two key points are missing. Can Canadians buy this car in the U.S.? And how much are the savings?
Today we start with two cars. One featured last Monday Nov. 26th and todays. Continue reading “Car of the day - Ford Escape hybrid and Mercedes Benz GL-Class GL550″
