Transport Canada and Montreal Gazette declare ZENN unsafe at low speeds!

2008-11-25zenn.jpg What a nice hatchet job Transport Canada and The Montreal Gazette appear to be doing to the maker of the ZENN car.

If you missed it here is the article. and the link to the TC site.

Why am I not surprised that the Transport Canada spokesperson highlighted in Allison Lambert’s article today prefers to remain anonymous. Most of us that have been following the work of this Government group over the last year or so highly suspect their findings and their overall intentions.

Is the reporter not aware that these vehicles are allowed for use in British Columbia? Is the reporter not aware that Transportation Canada has “flipped-flopped” on the acceptability of ZENN vehicles several times over the last few years?

Why didn’t the reporter interview the likes of Kash Ram or other senior officials at Transportation Canada to understand and report the real story?

Why is Transport Canada and the Gazette spending so much time and effort to discredit ZENN. Are they being encouraged by the “Big Three” , their office towers full of overpaid lobbyists, and the millions of dollars of advertising revenues they fear losing?

What would happen to a motorcycle or scooter under the same situation? Are they recommending that motorcycles now be used exclusively on bicycle paths?

What about all the other Electric vehicles that Transportation Canada has approved for use and are being used in British Columbia?

By the way, does Transport Canada still have the Ford Van that was banned by the U.S. Safety Department 8 years ago and was involved in the recent deaths in New Brunswick on it’s ok safety list?

Maybe it is time to revisit why our hard earned tax dollars go into funding this Federal Department.

Maybe it is time to reallocate these resource dollars to the provinces, where they appear to belong.

Transport Canada Blunders Again!

electric-truck.jpgU.S. Manufacturer gets Electric Truck approved for  import to Canada in one month, while a Canadian Company has waited 5 years !   and still waits, while the U.S. Truck is being driven in the streets of B.C.

Mr. Cannon please wake up!  We need to simplify things for Canadians, not make it harder!

The latest issue of the Economist contains an article titled

“Not on our Roads”  “Bureaucrats against electric cars and Progress”  —

Now the entire world knows just how backwards Transport Canada really is.  At the same time Harper and his oil backed Conservative Government look like a bunch of “banana republic” hoodlums.

We have captured the comments to date, take a look at what the rest of the world thinks!

Please Mr. Harper, wake up and make some real changes in the interests of the real people that voted for you!

Montreal Gazette dumps on Transport Canada again!

Tag: Auto Manufacturers, Media, ZENNRobert Lamb @ 11:59 am

The editorial this morning took a strip off of Transport Canada regarding it’s “flip-Flop” on the ZENN.

see article :  2008-03-24gazette.pdf

We wonder if and when the car does get approved, if the ZENN Motor Company, will “gouge” us like the rest of the sad sad Canadian Manufacturers.    Maybe we should ask?

We also wonder what Charest is doing. He should be out there trying to protect the only Car Builder in the Province.

Cannon looks foolish again !

doody.jpgMr. Cannon and Transport Canada just can’t seem to get it right.  Now they have withdrawn their approval of the Zenn car, they fear a safety concern.  The low speed car being used among regular cars is their concern!   But some of the Provinces like B.C. and Manitoba are telling them to stuff it.   Small Motorcycles that can not exceed high speeds are ok, but the Zenn is not.   Why is Transport Canada infringing on Provincial authority, just get rid of the whole department and let the Provinces do what they are responsible for. Cannon is so screwed up on this that he is now refusing to give interviews!

Note: 60,000 of these cars have been sold in the U.S. and not one has been reported in an accident as forecasted by our hard working  Transport Canada bureaucrats.

The Car is Built in Quebec.  The only car builder to set up in the province and Charest and the Liberals are out to Lunch on this one as well.

Here is another excellent report by the CBC. http://www.cbc.ca/national/blog/special_feature/green_rush/zenn_car_update_1.html
