I have purchased a 2008 Jayco Seneca HD in New Jersey, saved big $$$$$ and obtained a recall letter from Jayco at $0.00, GM wants $250.00 for theirs and RIV will not accept Jayco's with reference to the GM Chassis even though Jayco is the end stage manufacturer (which is in RIV's recall section but when I phoned they said that only applies if the first and second manufacturer is the same, but it does not say that specifically). Another $250.00 grab. GM is rude to say the least when confronted. I think we need to have this requirement dropped as when ownership changes, recall notices are sent automatically anyway, hence a waste of $250.00. Can anyone advise me as to what to do in this matter, I would very much appreciate any input.

I just imported a 2005 XC90, I got the admissability letter just fine and when I got form 2 back from RIV they require the Letter of Compliance. We all know the vehicle needs nothing to comply and the dealer here in Regina said so. But he charges $2,500 for the inspection anyway except that because he is not certified to do the provincial Inspection he said he would deduct $125 because I would still have to get a provincial inspection elsewhere.

Well good to see the retraction. I fully agree the person designing the new site needs a slap.
regarding price - I got an 08 Nitro R/T in august of 2007 before the dollar surged and paid about 32k for it on an original sticker of around 35,420 (I'm looking at it now). I see the same one optioned appears to be about 28,500 on dodge CANADA's site after cash allowance (again this site is tough to manage) and insanely enough seems to be 30,510 on the US site after cash allowance.. So it appears CHEAPER in canada. Here is the tender trap about lowering prices, you sell your old customers down the river. At least they are doing it with incentives they can remove if the dollars realign.

I get my vehicle paid for by my company thank goodness. I don't applaud chrysler for voiding wearranties on imported cars, but kudos to them for addressing pricing. They just came ff their 21st straight month of year over year sales gains so evidently canadians see some value.

How many Electic Vehicles do you see in the US? I have only seen them in very low speed areas such as balboa island in newport beach where general traffic is light and even golf carts are allowed to drive - never on anything close to public roads. Looking at the car buying habits of canadians shows a historical preference for smaller more fuel efficient vehicles versus the US anyways. Reality check - the US is not overrun with glorified golf carts on their roads. I don't necessarily disagree with the option of buying them with this said assuming they can pass a crash test.

I just did a build and price on an Aspen - it's tough on the Cdn site, but here are the numbers:

US inlcd Nav/options 2 pkg/top and inlcd. destination charge $41,335
Same car in canada, $48,770.
Save $7435 by going south!
I guess Chrysler thinks Canadians should pay 15.25% more for the same gas sucking car as our American neighbours and friends.

Stephen, thanks for your posted comment. We agree with you, We are pretty sure that when we went in after seeing your comment that there was no pricing, but then "poof" it was back.

We are not sure what to think, could it be that your complaint made them scrabble and put in some "un-friendly" solution???

But the bottom line is, has anyone compared the pricing and is it fair, or is Chrysler just tring to pull the wool over Canadians eyes?

OK, I think I started this, and so I will lay out my experience. One week ago I read in the FP newpaper that Chrysler had lowered prices. I went to the web site, looked at a number of auto's, and could not get a build and price screen. There was a line, which connected me by phone to a Chrysler customer service operator. I explained I could not build and price. They told me they had updated site, and that was no longer a feature. I asked they elevate my displeasure, up the old chain. I then posted a comment. I think at the time my facts were correct. Today however, you are correct - build and price is now there if you click on a particular auto. No so last week. Maybe sites like this, and consumer feedback made a difference. However I restate, a customer service person told me on May 2nd, 2008 this feature was not on their Cdn web site.

Hello,
I am new on the forum and am looking at importing a late model 2004+ volvo into Vancouver.
I've read here that the Volvo dealerships are gouging for the inspection. My question is this:
Is one required to go thru a Volvo Dealership for this inspection OR can one go thru an authorized
Volvo repairshop that is Aircare certified??
