Who can you trust?

the-us-mint-doesnt-even-trust-in-god-anymore.jpgToday with the internet you have thousands of sites recommending that you do this or  do that. Put your money here.  Take care of your heart and lungs here.  Lose weight and keep it off here.  Raise your children this way and spend your freedom 55 right here.

I am asking who you can trust?

Can you trust your politician who desperately wants to help his constituents as long as it helps him(her) get re-elected to the well paid MP job.  Do you trust your doctor? Who may be recommending a certain pill?  Is there really a secret kick-back from the drug companies? Or an all-expense-paid trip to a remote dream place.  Do you trust the newspapers TV stations: the Big Guys - Gazette, Globe and Mail or the CBC?  ; their unbiased reporting?  In the reporting business, it used to be “tell the truth, only the truth, but damn don’t tell ALL the truth.

This has now changed, we have several documented examples on our site and many on other sites where the newspapers stretch the truth or plainly lie.  Why is that?Money is KING.  The newspapers need advertisers to make profits.  Newspapers will not publish any bad news about their clients (car companies) unless they have no choice.  If the news is out by someone else, or citizens demand to know more, they will publish the story but with a little twist, bending the truth that shows that the big company (their advertiser) is still a good citizen and that they are good overall for the economy and thus the citizens.

Now do you trust CarsWithoutBorders?  Maybe yes, maybe no. - maybe not sure.  For us it is like the USSR and USA during the cold war era.  “Trust but Verify”.   We try to bring you a fair picture of the Car Pricing for Canada vs. U.S.  We try to report via our site what matters to a car consumer.  Is it true that we can save by buying in the USA?  How is it done?  Why buy there?

If you explore this site and the forum for the last 4 years now - you will see how Robert Lamb and I have positioned ourselves vis-a-vis the government, the RIV and the Auto manufacturers.  We stand up for the consumers.

We’ve been told by the Canadian Association of Car dealers in Toronto that they hate our guts.  Why? Because of us they lose business and money.

We have empowered citizens via a simple informative web-site to relate  their stories, and band together to save money. Our site is very modest.  It is a part-time hobby for us.  The only funding we get is from consumer donations and a little bit of advertising once in a while from a US dealer.  Why do we do it?

To even the playing field for Canadians!

To help the average Canadian family to get a decent break on one of its biggest purchases. Now coming back to the question on TRUST?  Do you trust us?  I would just say, read what we say and then check out other sites.  We believe that power to the people comes from knowledge, the truth and the means to do something about it.  When car prices in Canada will be on par with the USA, this site will be useless and the mission will be accomplished.  There is still a long way to go.

 Canadian $1.00 = $1.0279 USA.

As a member or supporter, or just a newcomer to our site, if you have just purchased a new or used vehicle in the U.S. please feel free to tell us your story.   Either on our forum or just send us a note at info@carswithoutborders.com You can trust us to keep it confidential if so desired.

The special interest groups (especially politicans whose only goal is to get re-elected) are running this country. Benz paid with their customers money. I won’t be buying any cars for the foreseeable future. If cars were reasonably priced I might re-think that decision but when I know I’m getting shafted, why cause myself pain. I had to order a new Cadillac at a local Canadian dealer if I wanted one because they only stocked AWD cars. That is another way the automakers shaft the public. I ended up buying a used RWD CTS in the USA, put winter tires on it and it works fine in snow and on ice. There is no way anyone needs an AWD. Before AWD, everyone got along fine.

That was before FWD, another feature that is less safe than a RWD when you consider the physics involved in car handling. But they want to sell you that more expensive AWD so they can make the mark-up on the extra equipment….which gets poorer mileage and will be expensive to service when the warranty period if over.

GM and other manufacturers promote E-85, a product that I believe has a poor carbon footprint compared to regular gasoline. In my opinion, it’s another automaker marketing gimmick. Is this in the public interest.

The Canadian public have only themselves to blame for being sheep led to slaughter. There a few intelligent voices like those of Robert Lamb and Serge Bergeron who more Canadians should listen to. Unfortunately, the media only deals with “sound-bites”, sensationalism and stories that are only one or two days long…then their viewers lose interest.

Most Canadians have no idea about car prices and are not willing to spend the time to learn about them. It seems that most would rather pay the price at the Canadian dealership that spend the time to see that they can save thousands by buying in the U.S. The Government will not do anything about this because the auto manufacturers employ alot of their voters.

Finding a professional you can have confidence in to do a good job is difficult. Many hold-out that they have the expertise by way of their designation. A designation is only as good as the person behind it.
