APA, Montreal Gazette come out swinging!

carsalesman3.jpgFinally Canadian automobile consumers are being warned about the deceptive and confusing Automobile ads that fill our newspapers and media outlets.

Our hats are off to George Iny, president of the Automobile Protection Agency, The Montreal Gazette and Protege-Vous ( a Quebec based Consumer magazine).

It must be difficult for the Montreal Gazette to report on these unethical practices given the revenue the car companies bring into CanWest.  It is nice to see them taking a consumer oriented stand on this issue.

All individual hard working Canadians want to be properly informed.  They appear to have done so in this story.

Again buyers beware.  When are our gutless politicians going to stand up for Canadians and adopt tougher advertising regulations that bring some honesty and ethics into the forefront?

We need more articles like this.

    1) Interesting to see the lack of content here lately

    2) Interesting to see them Name Honda and Acura as the worst transgressors when here all I am used to reading is how the domestics are demons.

“Misleading “zero-per-cent financing” deals and “zero-dollars-down” initiatives are so widespread that APA president George Iny suggested consumers avoid buying cars made by Honda and Acura or shopping at dealerships run by the Hamel Group of dealers.”

Thanks for your comments Aaron. Not sure we agree that “all” we do is treat the domestics like “demons”. Given the billions of dollars that our Government is giving GM and Chrysler maybe the real demons are the folks we elected.

It would be more effective for the Govt. to provide each taxpayer with a $5,000 cash incentive for people to trade in their old car and buy a new one. Then we would see who really deserves to be bailed out.

On another note please keep in mind that Honda Canada treats Canadians that purchase vehicles in the U.S. very poorly.

Finally, it is nice to hear that you find our lack of activity “interesting”. We kind of miss the action as well. But other priorities are dragging us in different directions at this time.
