Dear CWB member & supporter: Do you have 30 minutes?
Yes, CarsWithoutBorders is asking each one of our over 4,000 supporters to take 30 minutes and help us help all Canadians.
BackGround.
As we approach the upcoming Federal election, we have been attempting to tie down the leaders of all the political parties. We would like them to take a stand on our important issues. “Fair Pricing Of Automobiles for Canadians”! We would like them to take a stand and commit to making the changes to remove the non-tariff trade barriers that prevent Canadians from freely purchasing an automobile in the United States.
( Eliminate the self-compliant rule that allows the manufacterer to dictate importing rules to Transport Canada, hold the manufacturers to honoring the warranties of imported vehicles, and stop sitting quietly by and allowing the Americans to discriminate against Canadians. )
Current Situation.
We have not received any feedback on the emails we sent out …. letter to the leaders 2009-09-03 Yesterday we picked up the phone and chased after the local Candidates for feedback on the emails we sent them on September 9th. We were been told by the Liberal, NDP, and Green Party Candidates in the riding of Lac St. Louis that they will raise the issue to their leaders. Peter Graham of the Green Party even went so far as to indicate that he will be meeting with the leader this week-end and hopefully the Green Party would be able to indicate their support within ten days. The Liberal Candidate has always supported our cause, but it appears that Mr. Dion and Mr. Volpe don’t have time for us. He mentioned to me that if each one of our members was to raise the issue to the candidates all across Canada, that quite possible the Leaders would be forced to take a clear position. We have heard nothing yet from the Conservative Candidate.
Plan of Action - this is where we need your help -

It is stupid marketing. I will not buy a car that is 25% cheaper on the other side of the border. Actually, it is funny as I save money by continuing to use my old car which is actually doing ok, repairwise.
I also do not want to go to the trouble of buying in the States.
Just hoping my old wheels will keep on going….

Jean Marc.. the next time you have a major repair check out the price of the parts. You will find that you are being gouged 25 to 50%. Just recently one of our members needed to replace the motor and regulator in his car door that controlled the electric window. Dealer wanted $215 plus tax , Napa Parts dealer in Montreal wanted $192 for an OEM part plus tax. Our member found an OEM part at Dorman.com for $65.00U.S. plus gst and pst and shipping $5.00. No Duty.
We all hope our old cars keep on going, but we also have to shop wisely. It is the only way to affect change. Please take the time to let your political candidates know how you feel.
Thanks for your comment.

Robert,
Can’t get the second page to copy. Are we just attaching the link, or the actual second page?
October 2nd, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Great Idea, even though I have never been in contact with any of my local representatives I took the time to forward them your email.
I saved over $13,000.00 last Oct buying my 2008 Toyota Tacoma in the U.S, over $300.00 on a Tule bike rack, and I will be getting snow tires from the Tire Rack soon. I even picked up a new Weber BBQ in the U.S. on my way back with my new truck!
Keep up the good work guys!

John, to copy we just open the document in word (double click) , then do a “select all”,then copy. Then go to your email document and paste. It should work. If not you might have to save the word document on your computer and then attach it. Thanks for your support.
