Great article out today in the Globe and Mail, by Doug Stiener. He clearly explains that while the big automakers were out “gouging” all Canadians on the price of new vehicles, they failed to make adjustments to their leasing programs. Shortly they are going to get hammered as thousands of leases expire on over-valued used vehicles!
Canadian consumers that leased a car back in 2005 appear to have made an excellent choice.

The Globe and mail reported today that Bill Heard Enterprises Inc., the biggest Chevrolet dealer in the country, said Wednesday it is closing its 13 remaining dealerships, unable to survive in a weak economy with high gas prices and an inventory heavy on trucks and SUVs.
The Columbus-based company said in a statement it tried to avoid the closures, which will affect about 2,700 employees.

This morning’s article by Ann Sutherland “Buying Winter tires in the U.S. presents slippery questions” is nothing but unbiased fear mongering. It appears the Gazette is attempting to “scare” Canadians into staying home to get “gouged” at their local tire store!
We are hoping Canadian Consumers are smarter than that, but it would have been nice to see someone report the proper facts.

Shawn Apel - 514-216-9172 of CBC radio is looking to interview ordinary normal average day to day Canadians that have or are going to be buying their winter tires in the U.S. to save $$$$$$
Please give him a call if you are. We need honest, unbiased, respectable, and accurate media coverage to get the message out to all Canadians that they are being “gouged” on tires, cars and other car parts..
Seems to us that Publicly Funded Networks should ensure that an unbiased story gets to the people!

Jim Prentice Conservative Industry Minister was out helping Lois Brown campaign in the NewMarket-Aurora riding.
Check-out his 4 point plan, that has only 3 points. He also states –
“For example, a U.S.-manufactured bumper has to be approved for 10 kilometres per hour, but, in Canada, the number is only half that, meaning to ship to the U.S., bumpers have to be changed, slowing production, he explained.”
Duh!!!! Jim the bumper regulations have been approved!!!
Not only that Jim, it used to be around 8 KPH in Canada and around 4 KPH in the U.S. !
This is the minister of Industry for Canada! God help us! We wonder …. nuc–cleuuurrr…
