Another RIV List

Tag: Lawrence CannonRobert Lamb @ 2:15 pm

Transport Canada very swiftly dumped another updated list onto the RIV today!

The Differences are: correction on 1988 Audi Station Wagon and strange move on Bentleys

Now reads:1992 to 2008 All models (see note 1)

  •  NOTE 1: Bentley requires that ALL modifications MUST be performed by an authorized Canadian Bentley dealer. Please contact an authorized Bentley dealer in Canada to determine the exact nature and costs of the modifications.

2009 All Models (see note 2)

  • NOTE 2: Please contact the manufacturer for information regarding the exact nature and cost of the modifications required on 2009 models.

We interpret this to mean that for 2009, you do not need to go to an authorized Canadian Dealer. If you get the U.S. guy or any other dealer to make the changes (if any) it is ok.

diff2008-07-28and2008-07-31.pdfIt looks like the same note is being issued for the majority of 2009 vehicles.  This is taking over as a precedent for many manufacturers, “call the Canadian Manufacturer and find out the nature of the modifications.”   this applies to:

BMW,Chrysler,Kia,Honda/Acura,Mazda,Toyota and Lexus, and Volvo and a few others.

But what are these folks telling you?   They can’t sell to Canadians?

One Response to “Another RIV List”

  1. Michael aka GTstyle says:

The Audi change was for ‘98 not ‘88 models. It is for the A6 wagon.
Oddly enough before the bumper change it had always been admissable. Then it was on both sides of the list (most likely clerical error), which has no been messed up again by only being on the inadmissable side of the list.
