GM Canada follows Chrysler U.S. lead.. Ford Next?

Tag: Auto Manufacturers, Comment of the dayRobert Lamb @ 9:59 am

Yesterday GM Canada follows Chrysler U.S.  lead and will be out of the leasing business on August 1st.

Some say it is the price of gas that is changing the car world and that is true in the US, but in Canada it may be two-fold.  With all the  car dealers bringing in used US cars and many Canadians going south, or doing comparison shopping the “real value”  of many of the leased and new cars has been discovered.

You were gouged on the price in the first place!

Now they intent to offer 7 year 0% financing on cars that will fall apart after 4 years!!

Now you will get stuck holding the lemon not them!

With a 25-40% on price gouging on parts right now, the boys are setting you up for a big price gouge  when your 4 year old vehicle with 60,000 km needs a new solenoid, front plates …etc…etc..

Hookem— and reel-em in!    Canadians! When are you going to wake up, shopping in the U.S. is the only way these folks will get the message and come up with Fair Pricing.

If the “Big-Three” actually had a decent offering and didn’t make crap, perhaps the residuals wouldn’t be dropping so much! I’ll bet Honda and Toyota are patting themselves on the back, they don’t seem to loose out on lease deals!! Especially since more than 40% of vehicles in this country are LEASED!

I would not care as much about the long term dependability of a vehicle if I were leasing. After all, in
the 48 months driving the vehicle it is still more or less under warranty. Buying is different. People
who purchase tend to keep their vehicles longer. Quality is very important. Now two of the Big Three
are “forcing” people to buy their less than optimal quality vehicles that also depreciate faster. They
are just speeding up their demise. JMHO.
I bought my car, a Ford Escort (The World Car) a long time ago. It was my first and my last Big Three
product. Fool me once ….. and I will never go back.
    demise.
