RICHMOND HILL, ON, July 22 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada is reducing the
manufacturer suggested retail prices for its 2009 models. The price reductions
on the most popular vehicles range from $800 to $3,200, or 4% to 12%, compared
to the 2008 models.

So the question we ask is this “deal or no deal” for Canadians?

We have a problem with this move by Mazda.  If it was really such a deal why wouldn’t they spend the time and press to compare their prices to the U.S. equivalent model!!

  So over the course of the next few days Carswithoutborders is asking our members to do a little work.  Let’s work together and we will really determine how much of a DEALLL!!! Mazda is providing Canadians.   Help us either “right-side” the above logo to its proper position, or put it bottom up symbolizing another price gouging Canadian Car Manufacturer.

1) Volunteer to Take a model the Mazda 3,6,7,9,..Tribute. So we don’t duplicate work, delcare the model you will be working on in the comment section below. We need 5 volunteers with 30 to 60 minutes to spare.

2) Price out the Base Model, then the loaded model at the Canadian Site.   Then Price out the model at the American Site. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.  They try to confuse you.

3) Add 6.01% Duty plus $200 RIV fee.  Add the transportation and Prep.

4) Then call a dealer in Canada and the U.S. ask for their best price!  Don’t tell the U.S guy you are a Canadian.

5) We suspect Canadians are still getting hosed, especially on the options, but in fairness to Mazda Canada, Jim Kenzie and all of you that think we should all continue to shop in Canada, let us get the facts!  Lets do the job that most so called   ”auto journalists” at Canwest, The Toronto Star and other media outlets should really be doing.  

So is Mazda going down the road with “Canadian Friendly pricing” …. like Toyota, Chrysler and all the rest….
