For months now,  CarsWithoutBorders has been alerting Canadian consumers to the fact that Canadian Automobile Manufacturers have been gouging Canadians on all aspects related to purchase and maintenance of a vehicle.     We have been encouraging Canadian Consumers to shop in the U.S.  for incredible savings!   We have been after the Government constantly to eliminate non-tariff barriers to trade.  They must make it easier for Canadians to shop in the U.S.   We have been quite successful but there is so much more work to be done!

Yesterday on the News we heard that the CAA Quebec just issued this detailed report on Delivery and preparation charges.  The report concludes just that!  Canadians are being gouged!  Well thank-you CAA Quebec!

They are raising Industry Awareness - Quote: In light of these findings, CAA-Quebec recently sent letters summarizing the key points of the study to the main automakers. In doing so, the organization seeks to make them aware of the importance of offering competitive prices to Canadian consumers, and is asking them to take concrete actions to better reflect the prevailing economic realities. CAA-Quebec also used the opportunity to point out the significant discrepancies that persist between manufacturers’ suggested retail prices for vehicles sold in Canada and those marketed in the U.S. UnQote.

 As I was told by a very wise man yesterday! Doesn’t the CAA understand that these Companies are pricing to market. These “Canadian” Car Companies realize that with the Government ’s help that they can gouge us to their heart’s desire!  …. They have a “Captive” market. Why doesn’t the CAA simply encourage Canadians to shop in the U.S.  Why don’t they help Canadians shop in the U.S.?  We read their study and did not find it encouraging.

 It is nice to see that an organization with a reported 950,000 members and an assumed budget of several million Dollars appears to be waking up!  Maybe we can request that CAA-Quebec and all their  Canadian Consumer “Protection” affiliates across Canada endorse our web site and Petition!

If you are a volunteer member and supporter of CarsWithoutBorders and also maintain a  CAA membership, please speak up!  The well paid individuals running these organizations need to do more!   Even if you are not a member please let them know how you feel.
