Driving with Zack!

We want to thank Zack Spencer for the opportunity to be on his show that was broadcast across Canada this afternoon on the Corus Radio Network.

For those of you that missed it you can get it all right here.  See below.

The show focused on our team’s accomplishments over the last 6 months, we discussed the new bumper laws and the impact on the Canadian Automobile Consumer, some of the key issues making a simple import process still a little unwieldy.   The switchboard was swamped!

We wish we had a little more time to discuss where we go from here… but we will issue a posting next week.

In the mean time please sign the petition, encourage your friends, family and co-workers to sign.   As well, if you feel we have helped you or you are looking to support our cause please don’t hesitate to click on our “donate” button.  Please give what you can to help the cause!

I think the next step, or where we should go from now would be to have the manufacturer taking out of the picture completely.
If the cars are good enough for the United States, then they should be good enough for Canada. I believe under NAFTA it is our right to import vehicals from the US. It is the manufacturer that puts up all the road blocks.
You should be able to pick your US car, bring it across, pay your duties, taxes, import fees and live in peace.
The manufacturers need to be taking out of the whole process completly!!!

My concern with such a sentiment is that manufacturers will keep plants open in countries with economically favourable circumstances. I wouldn’t put it past them to issue threats of closures when they receive reduced profits. The entire auto business could end up in Mexico, China, etc… Just a thought!

I think Donny, we can be concerned about their threats to close up plants - that would not surprise me, but from recent experience with GM and the CAW - you just can’t trust them even when they agree on something.

To me, we have 2 different parts of the business - the manufacturing - where do they get good hard working people, good government grants - close to their markets - that’s the way they make the plant decisions. Then there is the market pricing at the consumer level - and we know they charge what people are ready to pay. They charge what they can get away with.

In Canada, they charge us $5 to 7 billion more than in the USA…that’s a lot of dough.
