Transport Canada admits they made an error, well, they actually said it was the importer’s misunderstanding. Nonetheless, the fair thing to do is let the Canadian import his electric trucks, too. RIGHT NOW!
They’re full of error. Dismantle TC/RIV (or at least the vehicle division) and start a new agency from scratch called The Canadian Motor Agency (CMA). Make its head, a 2 year appointed member elected by consumer protection agencies.
I agree with an agency like this - we have the CMHC - the central mortgage and housing agency and since cars are way up there in consumer costs - for Canada to have a CCA - Car and Consumer Agency - might help with the balance of power. I vote for that one. We do not have an effective consumer defense group in the law. And CWB is pushing and helping but there is no funding to seriously push these big bullies.
