An Update From the RIV..

Tag: Consumers, Lawrence Cannon, Media, Reg 215 BumpersRobert Lamb @ 10:25 am

rivupside1.jpgWe talked to a the RIV this morning, concerning the status of the revised RIV listing as a result of the changes to the new bumper regulations.

The new listing should be out by the end of the week.  Seems that the folks at Transport Canada really want to do a thorough venting.  It appears that we can even expect to see new manufacturers added as well.

We have been told that all vehicles in the backlog, that were held up due to the bumper issue, are being released.

Thank-you RIV!

Note: for those of you that did not catch the press release, we are assuming that the media deemed it insignificant (Canwest asleep at the switch!?)  you can read it by clicking here.

Driving with Zack!

We want to thank Zack Spencer for the opportunity to be on his show that was broadcast across Canada this afternoon on the Corus Radio Network.

For those of you that missed it you can get it all right here.  See below.

The show focused on our team’s accomplishments over the last 6 months, we discussed the new bumper laws and the impact on the Canadian Automobile Consumer, some of the key issues making a simple import process still a little unwieldy.   The switchboard was swamped!

We wish we had a little more time to discuss where we go from here… but we will issue a posting next week.

In the mean time please sign the petition, encourage your friends, family and co-workers to sign.   As well, if you feel we have helped you or you are looking to support our cause please don’t hesitate to click on our “donate” button.  Please give what you can to help the cause!

Not a Canadian Dealer Issue!?

Tag: ConsumersRobert Lamb @ 7:56 pm

We all realize that our American Cousins are paying $7-8 Billion a year less than Canadians for the same Cars.  We recognize that this is not  a Canadian Dealer issue.  All these excess profits go right back to the head offices in the U.S., Japan and Europe.   Depriving Canadians of a better standard of living!

But could not the Canadians Dealers do more?

Here is an interesting point of view we just received from a dealer. What do you think? Please write your feelings and point of view in our comments section:

Bumpers Away!!!

Tag: Consumers, Lawrence Cannon, Reg 215 BumpersRobert Lamb @ 11:45 am

Finally, The ammendments to section 215 of Schedule IV of the Motor Safety Regulation concerning  Bumpers have been passed into law!

  • This has the effect of aligning the test speeds of the Canadian bumper safety standard with those of Europe and the United States and provides manufacturers the option of meeting the European safety requirements or the safety and no damage provisions of the United States. As a result of this amendment, there is one consistent set of globally regulated test speeds for the design of bumpers,

Thanks to all that have participated and hounded the powers to be to move quickly on this issue.

We have been told today that Transport Canada is working on a new list that should be available within the next couple of days.   It look like 30 cars are now admissible…

Ok Mario, now that the American Bumpers are ok, we wonder if/ what  GM is going to do to prevent you from plating your car!
