U.S Car Sales Down…Canada Up

Tag: Auto Manufacturers, ConsumersRobert Lamb @ 10:50 am

globalautoreport1.JPGCar sales are way down in the U.S. and and Canadians are still buying!   …. Just a matter of time??

They say Canadians are buying due to the average price reductions of 7% over the past year.

We are  posting  the report from Scotia Economics and as well  the Canadian Newswire Summary of the report.  The report indicates that the Canadian Consumer is just tickled pink and happy to buy autos at the current pricing levels.

Many of these folks don’t realize they are still getting “hosed”  on price when compared to the US, and our press and media teams still don’t want to tell the real story.   And of course Harper and Transport Canada continue to make it difficult for the Canadian Consumer…

Seems like all the politicians and media , everyone is in Bed with the Car manufacturers except the average Canadian Consumer… and maybe Mr. Bernier?

Editors Note:  Mr. Cannon please pass the bumper legislation before the media digs up some dirt on you too!   Now would be a good time to make a splash, announce the bumper law ammendements  and redirect the media attention!

Can someone please explain to me how, if the average price of a new car dropped from $26,000 to $25,000 over the last year, this constitutes an average price reduction of 7% ???
Perhaps, of the cars that had their prices reduced, the average of this reduction was 7% ? Love those numbers games…. We, as stupid consumers, surely won’t catch on. :P

Bob can we get somewhere the current import numbers - we used to have this every month. Is it down or is it up. Are we making headways - or is this one of there little secrets now.

There are plenty of Canadians willing and able to support our American dealerships in need. The CAD has risen about 40% in the last 6 years vs the USD and they’ve only dropped prices by 7%. I don’t know why people seem to be satisfied with that.

I feel the canadian auto market will slow down as the year goes on. It started the year UP 10-12% for the first couple of months but the increases have cooled - april itself was up 3.8%. I think we have pent up demand and people who would have otherwise waited buying sooner, translating into higher sales for the first few months of the year.

i was shopping for 2 new cars. i shop with the web and found the price difference horible. most canadians are not aware of the price difference. how to import.. what is the just for the warranty. can they not warranty there cars. the us car does not break?? if the price has gone down 7% and the cad up 25 % in the last 2 year. whats going on. canadians buying or planing to buying shold puch off buy for 2 or 3 months to pressure the car company to reduce the price of cars.
