Why don’t Canadians take advantage of the cheaper US prices

Tag: Politicianssergelbergeron @ 5:31 pm

Here is a very interesting article in the Gazette today.  Rumors that the Deputy-Governor at the Bank of Canada wonders why Canadians don’t take full advantage of lower US retail pricing.  Maybe we need to send a few emails to the Bank of Canada?

Here is a print of the article May 19th, 2008.

I could not find John Murray’s email address on the Bank of Canada web site but here is the general communications email.

Most people are either (1) too LAZY (2) dont have the CASH and/or (3) want to FINANCE their vehicle purchase. Too much “WORK” to save significant $’s on a major purchase.

I disagree Honduh at least with your overall point. The article makes the case that it is governmental import restrictions and regulations that are stopping many Canadians from taking advantage of the lower American pricing. Most people on this site will agree with this evaluation of governmental incompetence (or, even worse, willful governmental attempts to restrict trade) as they have suffered through it themselves (like I have)

Some people have cash issues and some people are lazy but neither of those facts changes the reality of how our government is handling this issue. The government of Canada is making it harder to import things (like cars). The government of Canada is busy saving multinational corporations at the expense of Canadian citizens. Their words say otherwise but their actions are clear.
