The latest issue of the Economist contains an article titled

“Not on our Roads”  “Bureaucrats against electric cars and Progress”  —

Now the entire world knows just how backwards Transport Canada really is.  At the same time Harper and his oil backed Conservative Government look like a bunch of “banana republic” hoodlums.

We have captured the comments to date, take a look at what the rest of the world thinks!

Please Mr. Harper, wake up and make some real changes in the interests of the real people that voted for you!

Transport Canada is doing a wonderful job ensuring Canadian safety! Next will be a ban on motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and walking without a helmet. Shame on the US for allowing these electric LSV’s when everyone should really be driving safe 620 hp Corvette ZR1’s or 12mpg GMC Yukons.

How many Electic Vehicles do you see in the US? I have only seen them in very low speed areas such as balboa island in newport beach where general traffic is light and even golf carts are allowed to drive - never on anything close to public roads. Looking at the car buying habits of canadians shows a historical preference for smaller more fuel efficient vehicles versus the US anyways. Reality check - the US is not overrun with glorified golf carts on their roads. I don’t necessarily disagree with the option of buying them with this said assuming they can pass a crash test.
