Here is text received from Cornwall Toyota’s automatic email system.
“THE BOTTOM LINE - Your buying power increases (or decreases) in direct proportion to the level of local business activity. By shopping locally, the one dollar you spend will go through many hands, generating economic benefits for the entire community at every step along the way. Just as a farmer would not irrigate his neighbor’s fields instead of his own, we need to water our own garden, or rue the day when the harvest is poor.”
These are the same folks that had this add in the paper a few months ago.
Here is what one of our supporters wrote back to them:
What a crock of s@@t. The bottom line is that by buying from your establishment Canadian consumers are just sending more money to Japan. Why aren’t you fighting Toyota for lower prices for your customers instead of trying to pull the wool over their eyes?
It’s 2008; consumers see through this crap now.
The head of the ICBC, Paul Taylor, has resigned today as police announce review of company’s car sales.

Today, Robert and Serge spent over two hours on the phone with George Iny and two of his representatives, Michel and Sabastien.
We reviewed each of the 34 issues.
As a result George and his team has agreed to our position on 29 of the 33 items.
The APA website will be modified next week.
We have also agreed to work together to resolve the other 4 issues to our membership’s satisfaction and the general feeling was that this will not be difficult.
More importantly we have agreed to work closer together in the future to ensure the best for the Canadian Automobile Consumer.
As a token of good faith we have agreed to now “upright” their logo and strike out our issue 34.
Thank-you George for acting on our issues so quickly!
This was a very positive meeting, and now we can turn our focus back our other issues - the Canadian Car Manufacturers, Transport Canada and the RIV.
Today, Carswithoutborders completed a lengthy study into some of the comments reported on the APA (Automobile Protection Association) website and often quoted by their spoksman George Iny.
