On one hand Canadians are charged Green Levy on gas guzzling cars imported from US and on the other hand we are denied rebate on cars qualifying for EcoAuto. This makes no sense.

Ms. Komarynsky states that the reason to treat a Canadian buyer of an eco car from the U.S. differently than a Canadian who buys an eco car in Canada as a matter of “public policy”. This public policy established by the Conservative Government as one centrepiece of their environmental policy is truly inequitable and at the voters booth this will be remembered.

Well the response of Ms. Komarynsky to Serge’s simple request is typical BS. Her statement “as some manufactures have retooled their 2008 model year vehicles to improve fuel efficiency to meet the fuel consumption thresholds of ecoAUTO.” shows she knows very little about how manufacturers or the TC process ecorebate works. I would not be surprised if the fuel efficiency numbers are supplied by the car manufacturers on a self regulating basis: not verified by TC. This way the manufacturer can sell an car at tax payers expense. Further more, if there is in fact an increase in fuel economy, all it is a remap of the engine management system: a simple software update. How about that for a “retool”
What a bunch of ….
