Hybrids - pricing in Canada and USA
Here’s a nice list of the most popular hybrids prepared by Yahoo showing the pricing in Canada and in the USA. Seems like the prices are coming down a bit closer but of course these would be your basic models - once you start adding features then the price disparity is greater. Anyway if you are thinking of buying a GREEN car - this may help!
The Prius is still the best hybrid - but why is there a difference of $8,400 for the same car in the USA and Canada.

This is why I will never buy a NEW car in Canada until they stop gouging us!!!

i will be looking to purchase a new vehicle later this year and i would
definitely consider a prius from a canadian dealer if it was equally
priced at $21,100 . the $29,500 cdn asking price puts this vehicle
way out of my price range . if you figure in the price difference it
makes no sense to purchase a hybrid vehicle in canada period , the added
cost erases any potential fuel savings .

If it wasn’t for the $10000+ cheaper price in the US then Canada on a 2008 Toyota Highlander, I’d still be driving my gas hungry 2000 Dodge Durango on a daily basis. As a result, I have a less impact on the environment when driving the hybrid and burn half the fuel.
