Serge was on JE last night TVA @ 7:00 P.M.

The JE show last  night (en Francais)  features one of the Carwithoutborders founders - Serge L. Bergeron.

The show focused on the problems and roadblocks put up by our Government and the Car Builders to scare Canadians away from buying in the U.S.    Interesting.

Note: M. Jutras in the newsclip brings back his car because he can not get a recall letter from Honda.  But the RIV always accepted a recall letter on Dealer letterhead.  I am not sure this has changed.

Of course the APA , (Automobile Protection Association) and the show Host both conclude that the rules are so complicated that you need a broker!

Bob - if you need a Prius - my wife has a good 2005 that she wants to trade in for a new 2009 Prius - anybody interested? psst - don’t tell her I am selling her car…

  5. GregD says:

RIV accepted a print out from the Honda Owners website regarding recalls on my Honda Ridgeline when I imported it into Canada last October. I believe this is still the case due to Hondas refusal to issue recall letters under any circumstances.

Can someone post what McCarty Tetrault said? My French is pretty weak.

  7. sergelbergeron says:

I’ll give a shot at the high level translation asap - unless someone else volunteers?

The complete transcript is now on the site.

  9. Guy Jutras says:

    Robert.
We didn’t have to return the car. We were at the point of transfering the money to the US broker when we were advised that Honda would never issue the Recall Letter. We have been lucky and we recommend consumers to be very CAUTIOUS PRIOR TO TRANSFERING ANY MONEY TO A US DEALER OR BROKER.
We actually look forward for a Toyota Highlander 2008 Limited that we will buy and import only after we ARE CERTAIN all the papers required for importation WILL BE ISSUED.
