I like Logo 4.
March 6th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Ahh, thanks for asking. I much prefer logo number 5.
March 6th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
I like logo #1. Also, please note that CWB stands for the Canadian Wheat Board out West. It might be a conflict of identification.
Keep up the good work!

Of the ones presented, I pick logo 1, or 6.
March 6th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
I think #4 or #5, would change the colour in the type to the Canadian Flag Red though.
March 6th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
LIke #1 or #4. I can see the initiative grow much larger in the months/years to come.As our American cousins have had the same issues in the past and will in the future I can see their willingness to participate. In order to ensure the “made in Canada” initiative I think # 4 would be more appropriate
March 6th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Logo # 1
March 6th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
Logo # 1 for sure.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
I like logo #1 a lot as well as logo #6. I agree the font color in 4 and 5 should be the more “Canadian” type red. As well, I am not sure about having blue stars in them as well. I like the simple red and white theme unless the idea is to also capture a partial American connection on the logo as well.
So far though, #1 and #6.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Thanks to whomever did the logo. Nice clean looking presentations.
I believe that the logo should be more Americanized…stripes as well as stars. For me, the stars evoke thoughts of Hollywood. There should be graphis on the internet of an amalgamated Canadian and U.S. flag which I believe would portray the idea of “no border” for the importation of cars.
The earlier poster who mentioned CWB as meaning Canadian Wheat Board has a valid point. Maybe “Cars Without Borders” has to be shown in its entirety possibly on the background of an amalgamated flag.

#4 with the blue stars as it’s not just a Canadian problem.
March 6th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Further to comment 10.
I prefer #1 but with the right hand side being a stylized American flag. The Canadian maple leaf on the left looks great.]]
March 6th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I pick 6 cause it’s big and clear.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
These great logo’s are offered to us by Andreas Friesen, Winnipeg Manitoba - thanks and it looks like we will adopt one or a slightly adapted version very soon - great comments everyone.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Have a look at the Seaway logo at http://www.seaway.ca - it shows both countries with the Seaway between the 2 countries.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
It is important to have some reference to both countries (stars & stripes and the maple leaf), maybe one on each end, because essentially this is what the CWB is all about - being able to import U.S. bought cars into Canada and getting them plated with little or no government “red tape”.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Thanks for asking. I prefer logo 1 or 4, but leaning towards 1.
Hope this helps. Good work guys!

March 6th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
#1 Looks the most offical.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
logo 3. There is no point to a logo with the letters CWB, that is meaningless. or can be mis-interpreted. You don’t want to waste peoples’ time trying to figure out what CWB stands for. Just say, Cars without Borders. Logo 3 is the easiest to read, especially from a distance.
March 6th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Ajouter “Autos sans frontières” à 4 ou 5, peut-être?
March 6th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
I have to agree with Mario and Michael Buffy.
Both American and Canadian flags should be on the logo and Cars without Borders spelled out to insure no confusion to the canadian wheat board. Truly a born in Canada website, thnks to Robert , Serge and others, but I believe by being non partisan with the logo it will incourage input and use by our American neighbours who have the selection of vehicles for us to choose from
March 6th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
What would be nice, once we decide on a logo, is to have a nice small (the size of the selling dealer stickers as found on the back trunk lids) high quality sticker made (one that does not fade with time). All those who have gone through this RIV process should get one and proudly display it on their vehicles.
A “Badge of Honour” of sorts.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
I am not for sticking many things on my car but your idea Mario - yes I would proudly have that small professional logo right where the dealer logo was before I removed it.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
# 1 for me…its primarily a Canadian site!
March 6th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
I think whichever one is agreed upon, that the PREDOMINANT feature should be the Canadian Maple Leaf and the US Stars secondary in sizing.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
I liking logo #1.
March 6th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
To me, #6 exemplifies CWB. It would be even more so if the upper portion of the maple leaf had US stripes in it.
Incidently, The job you are doing is beyond fantastic. Kudos to you and the organization.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:06 am
1
March 7th, 2008 at 3:11 am
Number 1 is my choice. All are great designs!
March 7th, 2008 at 7:44 am
All are very good, 4 or 5 seem to stand out with me. If you could add a stronger American linkage besides the stars it may present a more accurate picture of the struggle……
March 7th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Number 4 but with the Canadian flag slightly larger and either outlined in red or coloured solid red.
March 7th, 2008 at 8:50 am
All logos look great. The ones with the stars would tell the story a little bit more, but I like number one because it would “mark” the time when trouble is for our Canadians. So it (the logo) should look Canadian and I would like to give our members “credit” for starting ad doing all this ,epecially Robert and Serge.
March 7th, 2008 at 10:37 am
The chosen logo could as well be incorporated into a license plate frame with enough room for the CWB title to be in English and French.
March 7th, 2008 at 11:21 am
I will go with no. 6
March 7th, 2008 at 11:27 am
Logo 6 is my first pereference; Logo 1 is second
March 7th, 2008 at 11:37 am
3 or 4
March 7th, 2008 at 11:40 am
Logo #1… but increase the font size
March 7th, 2008 at 11:44 am
I think #1 is the best choice as I feel it is less busy and and more straight forward.Good work Bob and Serge. Thanks!!!!!
March 7th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Logo #1
March 7th, 2008 at 11:51 am
#4 is my pick.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
I like logo 2, but stretch it horizontally more, like #1. 2nd choice is #4.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
I like the simplicity of No. 1, but it could have a stylized USA Flag within the Borders on the right hand side.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
From existing logos, my choice would be the logo number 1.
Stylisticaly, It’s the most clear and clean.
But as Greg and Gordon pointed out, it lacks US insiginia. So I propose to use a combination of the logo 1 and the logo 2.
Just put some blueish stars at the end of logo 1.
I don’t like the acronym in the 2, especially combined with italics in “CarsWithoutBorders”, that’s not really intelligible.
6 looks really good, US stars can be added, but the format doesn’t really suit the web, it’s too tall and would take up too much space on most screens.
3,4 and 5 five look slightly cheap and rather too American, they distract the focus from Canada.
March 7th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
Love Number 1, it jumps right out, but it really needs US representation. Suggest adding stars down the right hand side, or across the top.
March 7th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Some of these logos look too much like the Red Flag Deals logo at: http://www.redflagdeals.com/
March 7th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
I like logo #1
March 7th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
I prefer logo #1
March 7th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
prefer Logo #1 - add the acronym “CWB”
March 7th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
#1 and cleaned up. keep in mind the conflict is with many highly professional and knowledgable organizations with strong financial backing to go to court whenever they need to in order to protect their profits. why not have something that is clean, subtle and professional…
March 7th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I would pick logo 4….it represents Canada and US car impoting problems …AND THE WORDS Cars without borders is written out …..most people wouldn’t know what CWB is…Thanks DITRI
March 7th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
No.1 is the #1 with me
March 7th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
I like #1, however, if you really think that the Americans will use it, then I would add some stars to it. The first one is very clean.
March 7th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
I like #6. You can never use the acronym alone because CWB is Canadian Western Bank or Canadian Wheat Board. I love the website. Keep up the good work.
March 7th, 2008 at 6:55 pm
I like # 3. You can focus direclty on it. It is clean clear and to the point as 1 & 2 do not have a clear maple leaf. Keep in mind a logo cannot have to much as one cannot read everything at a glance especially from a distance.
March 7th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Number 1 is the best and suits stationary the best.
March 7th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
I like logo 5 only add 52 stars
March 7th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Hi,
To be honest I personally do not prefer any of the logos. As a graphic designer myself I really don’t think you need to put stars and that leaf to represent Canada. I feel that it should look more sophisticated and unique. It should at least have some design elements put to it. It doesn’t have to be red and white with blue stars. Simple, smart and creative is what I’m looking for.
Give me a buzz if you need HELP!!
March 7th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I prefer Logo #1 based on the K.I.S.S. principle. Keep it simple. I don’t like the stars or the stylish Maple Leaf. Makes it too Americanish. And, there’s a spello in the last logo (carswithoutborder[S].com)
March 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I like #1 its neat, tidy and it gives the website.
March 8th, 2008 at 12:06 am
I preferred # 1, simple and neat
March 8th, 2008 at 8:20 am
#4
March 8th, 2008 at 9:37 am
i like #1 or #6.
March 8th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Should have a car image in it, otherwise ??
March 8th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Maybe also one with the border it, hey, !!like the one at the bottom of this page will do
March 9th, 2008 at 1:15 am
Great comments on the ideas! As I was looking through them, I started to wonder if we need the flags/countries connection at all. I was thinking about a side profile of a car with the words Cars Without Borders along the length of the body. Then I saw pitpony’s comment - right on! Would it work to have both English & French name in it? Maybe reduces US marketability?
March 10th, 2008 at 10:32 am
I like number 5.
Thanks for asking
March 10th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Yes you can do better for your logo. And you will know it when you see it.
Here is why this is sent to you. I have done art direction with graphic designers for over 25 years and would be happy to help. Here are few quick comments:
1) have the logo say CAR visually even before someone has to read a word !
2) make it really communicate
3) what ever you decide upon increase the the impact a number of ways, check out my magazine front covers at http://www.commonground.ca for a few tricks such as black hairlines around letters to max contrast
4) call me, yes on a phone, to talk 604-733-2215
5) thank you for helping people not get so screwed by “the
industry”
6) help me get electric cars here ASAP !
March 16th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Kudos to the designer. They are all good –my favourite is #2.
