This is an open letter to BMW:
Quit putting up those ridiculous importation barriers and patronizing potential importers with your pathetic excuses for the price disparity. No amount of importation fees will ever make up for the lost customer goodwill. Trust me, your main target market is me, and other potential importers who earn a decent enough living to afford to fully pay for a BMW in cash. Generally it’s the younger demographic that is using the internet to evaluate pricing differences, research importation rules and look for the best bang for the buck. These are your current and future customers and your p*ssing us off. Learn from the best in the business, Lexus, who have dropped MSRPs on all models. The dollar isn’t going anywhere and there may be tough economic times ahead so you’re advised to deal with this soon.

As one of those younger demographic people who “was” highly considering and intending on being a proud BMW owner,
I couldn’t agree more. I get a bitter taste in my mouth for BMW Canada regarding their business practices
and the direction they are choosing to take in regards to what matters to them most, me and all others like me.
Perhaps instead of thinking only about what’s best for you BMW Canada, maybe you should also consider what’s
best for your loyal customers as this is truly what would be best for you in the long run. Was I planning on
being a BMW owner for life? Yes. Am I know? As of late…. who the hell would?

BMW…..Big Misguided Weasel

Blame the people that buy the cars, not the company. Sorry, but if you’re dumb enough to get gouged, then its on you, not the MFG.

In response to last, no matter which way a Canadian purchaser goes about it, whether buying Canadian or US, the purchaser is getting gouged. By buying Canadian we get gouged by our economy with simply higher priced vehicles than if we went and bought American. So, we seek to by American but we get gouged there too by the arms of our government (TC) and the MFG by imposing stiff fees and requirements for unnecessary modifications and work. For the Canadian purchaser, there is no win or way not to get gouged. It’s not fair to say “blame the people that buy the cars” as what else is he/she to do when their screwed either way. Their best bet (if they still want to buy a BMW vehicle) is determine which route would screw them the least, take it and live with it. But the thing is, hence the latest lawsuit, we shouldn’t have to. It’s not about being dumb enough, it’s about being smart enough to realize some things are not right and doing something about it.
