ZENN (0 Emissions no noise) Car still waits!

  • zenn400.jpgTransport Canada finally approved a zero emissions vehicle for Canadian roads, but the individual provinces seem to be stalling.   It only took them several years to approve the Car!   Made in Canada, they have been selling World wide for quite some time.
  • Does anyone know why the Provinces are stalling?  The province of Quebec didn’t need to approve my Honda 2008.   We are surprised Charest and his “bumbling” team haven’t approved it… maybe the  French Language on all the stickers  has two be twice as large as the English and Spanish.  They appear to be the only “Quebec” based Car Maker and they are being treated like crap in their home province!
  • If Transport Canada has approved it how come it is not on the list of the ECO-Rebate program.  If we were running the progam it would be and we would give at least a $5,000.00 rebate, versus the $2,000 for a Gas driven 2008 Honda Civic Coupe with a Manual Transmission.  Each ZENN car, compared to a Honda Civic 2008 Coupe reduces carbon emmissions by 6 … yes six tons a year…. Maybe the ECO-rebate should be $10,000.
  • We  guess the current Car makers and Gas Companies must be running all over Lobbying all the Provincial Politicians… Imagine a “Transport Canada” and and “RIV” in each province sticking it to each Canadian and Quebec Citizen!
  • We understand it has been approved in B.C. … any of our members or supporters have any feedback?
  • Does it cost more in Canada than the U.S.?  Maybe we will check this out next week.
  • It seems to us that a ZENN car would be ideal for local shopping and family errands close to home.  At a top speed of 40 KM/HR, they should be approved for local roads and banned on our Highways, especially in Quebec, where most large trucks and cars  do 120KM all the time.   This makes us wonder why Transport Canada took so many years to approve the car and then did so, without adding some type of conditions as we noted above.  We guess that the folks at Transport Canada think it is safe to drive these cars on all our major highways in Canada.   Only in Canada!
  • Sit back and enjoy the Rick Mercer special that aired on November 20th, 2007.   We were too busy putting up with all the Transport Canada B*** Sh** and we missed it!

It’s because the top speed of these vehicles is somewhere around 40 kph. There is concern they can’t keep up on city streets where the speed limits are 50 or 60 and may cause traffic issues, merge on ramps and slow downs on some of the inner city highways where provinces don’t post a minimum spped.. I understand that Zenn is working at upping the speeds somehow. It’s on their web site.
