Can I have my money please?

These folks over at Transport Canada really are letting the Canadian Public down!

Refer to the following story of a poor Ottawa man that purchased a “legal” Canadian made Honda Civic from a Canadian Dealer in Ottawa on October 24th, 2007

He is still waiting for his eco-rebate cheque after mailing in his application on October 25th, 2007.

Is the RIV involved?  We don’t know, but it appears so.   E-mail to TC- ADM

Donald told me that they cannot take their RRSP this year - or they will need to borrow the money because the government is not sending them their EcoRebate. They did not want to risk buying in the US. Looks like buying in Canada is not too much better? Will the government pay the extra tax that he will incur if he doesn’t take his RRSP this year?

Why can’t the rebate just be applied against the GST when buying a qualified vehicle. How come we need a whole department - new process etc for such a simple thing. Sales tax collectors could audit the dealers. Wouldn’t that be efficient? Get your money now? That would help hybrid sales….
