Montreal Gazette Holds Back Reader Comment!

Tag: Auto Manufacturers, MediaRobert Lamb @ 11:01 am

We have generally accepted that the Montreal Gazette and many of the other media have been holding off on further coverage of the “Fair Automobile Pricing for Canadians” issue.  We understand they all make many  dollars “catering”  to the Auto Industry.  And they don’t want to rock the boat!

Recently, we have submitted several mini acticles on the issue and many of our members have replied to the editor often, yet the Montreal Gazette remains Silent!  They even refrain from mentioning our web site! www.carswithoutborders.com

In the “letters to the editor” section in this morning’s Gazette,   ”A simpler Way”  was submitted by Murray Notkin.  Please note , that Murray refers to the $$$$$ difference in a Toyota Prius between Canada and the U.S.  ($8,400) .gazetteletters2008-01-10.jpg

When we went onto the internet to reference the statement, what did we find?

The comment was missing! but right next to the remaining articles was an add for Driving.ca advertising Volvos - ( yes the ones that are now banned from importation on the RIV list).  We have a copy for you here.. in case they change it again!gazetteletters2008-01-10missing.jpg   here is the link as well. http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/letters/index.html

We checked the electronic version and the comment is there, we even recorded it!

So what is going on.  We also noticed that the Gazette is one of the prime sponsors of the Montreal Auto Show, page C5, Sponsored and Produced by the Montreal Automobile dealers Corporation INC.     I wonder if we can get some free tickets?

I will be sending this post to the Gazette and asking them to comment.  Maybe they just made a terrible mistake!

Here is another example of a reply to one of their editorials on the price of magazines, that was featured in the December 31st editorials… I wonder if they kept that around, but they certainly didn’t publish this reply… aripoffby-anyother-name.pdf

Transport Canada - !? - Old Japanese Cars OK!?????

Tag: Auto Manufacturers, Lawrence Cannon, PoliticiansRobert Lamb @ 2:58 pm

Transport Canada does it again!  Did you know that many Canadians are now importing older Japanese Cars from 1990.

Canadian importation rules allow importing Japanese cars, but they have to be 15-years-old or older.

.  These small cars must really be safe (??) for our roads and we expect they meet all our gas guzziling and pollution standards.  But according to the rules our Government doesn’t care!!!   We can import them to our hearts content!  Cuba here we come!

  • We are not suggesting anything is wrong here!??
  •  As a taxpayer think of how much $$$$$$$ Canadians are paying for the RIV and all the people at Transport Canada.
  • They make  all the rules and protect Canadians from all the 2008 American “Market” Automobiles.   Unless of course you are an American Citizen living in Canada! ( If it meets the U.S. Code you are ok to drive in Canada!)
  • Please don’t forget to vote in our Poll .  If you haven’t yet please register on our forum and vote!  Thanks!

RIV Poll!

Tag: Lawrence Cannon, PoliticiansRobert Lamb @ 4:19 pm
  • CWB members and Supporters please respond to our poll.
  • Recently the RIV and Transport Canada have been sending out survey and poll requests to certain Canadians that have used their services. Serge and I suspect that they are doing this to help justify their existance and they seem to target only those that have sucessfully imported a vehicle.
  • CWB wants to really get down to the nitty gritty. We all know this organization need to be retro-fitted. Someone needs to be accountable for all the aggravation they have caused. We can not let Mr. Cannon think he has a well managed organization. We need to conduct our own poll and forward this information directly to the decision makers.
  • Note: you will need to register yourself on the CWB Forum prior to voting.
