  •  We are also trying to find out where the Green Party Stands on our issues.   where-do-you-stand-liz.pdf . The NDP, won’t return our calls, The BLOC tells us they are going to do something anyday ( third time we have heard this)  The key Liberal movers and shakers, Dion and Volpe remain silent!) The Conservatives appear to be  on everyones side!  Isn’t that the way it works when you are driving the car!
  •  Next, please send us info on your key contacts on the Automakers side.  We have a few, but it would be interesting to put a list together and publish it next to the RIV list. ( these are the folks that really control it!)
  •  So who are these movers and shakers that like to work behind closed doors with Transport Canada?  Let us know!

Any update about the new regulation??? thanks…

  2. Jon says:

Whats the news? When will RIV publiss the decision, it’s past the 16th?

  3. David Chipchar says:

I called Pierre Tremblay at Transport Canada this morning were he indicated they would need a couple of days to review information from the stake holders meetings for the past 15 days. He indicated if it went through we should get form 2 sent out by RIV end of this week. What he also seemed to imply is this cmv114 amendment is possibly a small victory for those recently effected by it and that there is still no way for an automobile manufacturer to be made to explain anything about a vehicle produced for the american market or vice versa. So we are basically still at the mercy of the auto manufactures. The harper Govt will need to address this way of doing business as the DOT is caught in the middle.

  4. Jon says:

They are not in the middle, they recommend and help the minister draft policy.

I’d like to know if in the end we will be able to import vehicles with US immobilizers or not?

I also got a phone call from Mr. Tremblay, but only after I called him, because RIV. indicated to me this morning that I would have to export my RDX back to the States, and they would be very happy to give back the money that I paid for taxes at the border.

So obviously I say RED, especially since it was confirmed to me that I could bring in my vehicle on the 11th of December, even though, RIV said it would be confiscated at the border!!

Well when I got to the border it took 5 minutes at the American border because my papers had been sent to the border since October when my vehicle arrived at the concession, but of of course the rules changed in November and I still hadn’t pick up my car.

Then it took about 15 minutes at the Canadian border, just enough time to fill out my Form 1 and pay my taxes.

This was a great relief after having driven for 8 hours to go and come back to pick up my car finally. Of course this was the second trip to pick it up, since the first time I went the rules had just changed and I could not bring it home.

I must say Mr. Tremblay and his office was very kind in extending their help in this situation.

But RIV.is a real MESS, no one ever gives you the same answer and some peopple seem to take pride and pleasure in telling us that our vehicle will have to be exported or confiscated.

Their Supervisors do not answer their phone, and their message box is full, so when you finally get to reach one, the line automatically just gets hung up. What a lovely way to handle the public.

Mr. Tremblay also indicated to me as he did to David that we should get an answer towards the end of the week, but I never was told that the answer would be positive.
