  • If you can help it, never apply for a temporary plate in Quebec for your new US purchased car.  Some folks do when their original dealer tag expires.  This helps them get to Canadian Tire. 
  • But it might be cheaper to hire a flatbed truck! 
  • If you have purchased a Quebec temp. when you pay your PST( Quebec Provincial tax) they calculate the value of your car based on the Blue Book, rather than on the price you paid! 
  • Check it out in your Province!

    You should become a consultant just like Ucanimport for Ontario and Quebec to assist others to follow the rules and import Cars.

    Thanks for your kind words. It is my pleasure to help. I started down this path 10 weeks ago and I really don’t know where this is leading. More importantly though, I have had the pleasure to work with and meet many Canadians all across Canada (seniors, young families, business people, and college students). Without this problem, we never would have crossed paths. I am the better for it. It is amazing what people can do working together for a common cause. Serge and I simply spent the time enabling you all to work together.

    When I brought my new motorcycle thru Canadian customs(Sarnia) I was told that I did not need plates for 45 days and could drive. I was advised to keep the paperwork with the bike and show that to the Police if required.

    In Quebec the temporary plate is free!! and is valid for 1 day only…..Gets you to do your inspections etc etc etc!!Thats what the SAQ told me the last time I called…….I’ve been waiting so long for my recall clearance letter and my US plate has expired!!….SAQ also told me I am not allowed to drive with a temporary plate from the USA……iTS VALID ONLY IN THE USA……DUH…I passed customs with that US plate into Canada…why didn’t someone say something!!!
