Car of the Day
With all of the running around this week-end, in preparation for the consultations, I simply did not have a chance to do justice to the “Car of the Day”. But I thought about all my resourceful teamates out there. Maybe you would enjoy a little challenge. Especially those members of our “Awareness” team. If you don’t have time just post it onto one of the forms and let it roll.
Is this add that I read this morning a good deal for the Canadian Consumer? - comments appreciated!

FLEETRATES.COM in the USA are advertising the same car 2008 Acura MDX for $449.00 a month…..So where are the savings here in Canada…..were talking almost $10000.00 more for the same car lease after 48 MONTHS.

Somehow comparing car prices, and comparing their monthly lease rates are two very different animals. I have always been in awe at how low a monthly price can be for a nice car on those US ads (for example, Costantino’s quote for a MDX at $449 a month). Even if the purchase prices were the same I suspect the lease rate for the US car would be substantially lower. Of course, with a lease, there’s more factors; money costs, residual, down payment. These things are all used by our car dealers to confuse and in the end, maximize their returns.
So the big question, is why is the lease rate so much lower in the US? Of course a large part of the answer is probably the new vehicle price, so maybe we’ll see a bit of improvement on that here in Canada over the next few months (but don’t hold your breath on achieving parity).

I Love it! “NO PASSPORT REQUIRED”
There is still no passport required to enter the US, unless you are planning to fly down.
Though come January 30th, you’ll need a gov’t issued birth certificate at least. Something everyone should get if they haven’t gotten one already !
Clever marketing guys using a different scare tactic to keep Canadian shoppers in Canada.

Total FUD coming from Acura here.. what else do you expect from them? It seems you CAN fool some of the people some of the time (even alot of the time)…

Acura’s US website (Acura.com)ofers TSX $299 p/m for 36 months with $1499 due at
signing. The Gazette ad reads: TSX $428p/m for 48 months.

Another cover-up by dealers/manufacturers.

NO PASSPORT REQUIRED!!! I just can’t believe it. This is really insulting. We should all boycot Acura/Honda for adds like this. How can we react.
Who would be willing to put an add in the newspaper to counter adds like this. I would be willing to put money into this. A hell of a lot of money.
Signed by the guy that has to drive a ‘92 Cavalier instead of a 2008 MDX Acura because of Honda/Acura
